The Jesuit and the Miracle

This is an article from Joey Lomanigino.
As the four young seers of Garabandal went into ecstasy on this date in 1961, something wonderful happened that had never occurred before. A young man was present with them, clearly visible in the presence of the Blessed Virgin. As he came to kneel down beside them they heard him say" Miracle, Miracle!"

Our Lady seemed to address him directly, "You will soon be with me" and confided to the girls that this man, Father Luis Maria Andreu Rodamilans S.J. was also in ecstasy and had been granted a vision of the Great Miracle that would occur in their village sometime in the future.

Father Andreu was the son of a very pious Bilbao family. Three of his brothers became Jesuit missionaries. Luis also discerned the call to become a missionary priest and joined the Jesuits with plans of preaching the gospel in China.

A Doctor of Theology, he spoke seven languages fluently and became the resident Professor of Theology at the Jesuit College at Ona, Spain. He remained behind in part to care for his aging mother who had generously given all her children to serve the mission fields of the Roman Catholic Church. After his death his mother would join the Visitation Convent in San Sebastian.

Suffering interiorly for much of the past year, Father Luis made the drive up from Burgos with friends. This was his second and final trip to the village where he had been deeply moved by the apparitions of July 29. He had decided to return one more time before departing on a trip to Germany. Moving with the crowd following behind the ecstatic march, he found himself unexpectedly swept up in the vision and witness to the future Miracle. Many in the crowd heard him cry out in joy and astonishment.

On the trip home, Father Luis confided to his friends, "I am so happy. What a favor the Blessed Virgin has bestowed on me. How fortunate we are to have a mother like her in heaven! There is no reason to fear the supernatural life. The girls have given us an example of how we must act with the Blessed Virgin. There is no doubt in my mind the things involving the girls are true. Why should the Blessed Virgin have chosen us? This is the happiest day of my life." Shortly after making this statement, Father Luis Andreu died in the peace of holy joy before the car reached its destination.

One cannot review the events at Garabandal without acquiring a great impression of the love Our Blessed Mother has for her priest sons. This love was fully absorbed by the visionaries who emerged from the apparitions with a profound desire to pray and offer sacrifices for priests and to foster this practice amongst the laity. They have continued in this devotion all their lives organizing holy hours of prayer for priests in the places where they live.

This call for prayer for priests must be counted among the most important priorities of the Garabandal apparitions. Emphasized repeatedly in the discourses of Our Blessed Mother to the children is the necessity of sacrifices and prayer on the part of faithful Catholics for their priest, whose true vocation is self sacrifice imitating that of Jesus Christ. The failure of a vocation concedes a lack of devotion on behalf of the laity spiritually obliged to uphold these men in their labors.

As Conchita expressed in a 1971 message, "Let us pray a lot for priests. We ourselves are to blame for many priests who are on the road to perdition, because we do not pray enough for them, because we do not sacrifice ourselves, and also because we should be giving an example to those priests who are consecrated to the Blessed Virgin...We have to help those priests...that they may rise and pursue their course."

Many authors on Garabandal believe that the events pertaining to Father Luis Andreu S.J. are meant to honor him as a worthy priest and place high his example of devout ministry for others to follow. When asked in 1966 what the Blessed Virgin desired of priests Conchita replied;

"What the Blessed Virgin wants from the priest first of all is his own sanctification.
-He should fulfill his vows through love of God, and lead many souls to Him through example and prayer, for in our time it is difficult otherwise.
-May the priest be sacrificed through love of souls in Christ!
-May he retire from time to time in silence to listen to God who speaks to him continually.
-May they think a lot about the Passion of Jesus so that their lives are more united to Christ the Priest and thus invite souls to penance and sacrifice, and also make more tolerable to them the cross that Christ sends to us all.
-To speak of Mary who is the surest one to lead us to Christ and also speak about and cause people to believe that there is a heaven, so too there is a hell."

Here in the United States, we have yet to see our first native born priest canonized by the Universal Church. As Americans, we are blessed to have many outstanding priest patrons on the path to sainthood: Archbishop Fulton Sheen, Father Solanus Casey OFM, Father Emil Kapaun, Father Walter Ciszek SJ, Father Patrick Peyton CSC, and Father John Hardon SJ are foremost among many worthy American priests.

We encourage you to offer your needful petitions to any one of these intercessors. Please add your prayers and support to their respective causes that our nation may have the greater grace of their heavenly assistance and our clergy and laity their true and saintly examples of priestly life.

On August 16th, 1961, only a few days after his death, Father Luis Andreu was again present in the apparitions of the Blessed Virgin to the four seers of Garabandal; this time as her heavenly guest. He left this consolation with the girls for his grieving family, "Be happy and content, for I am in Heaven and see you every day."

In a private locution to Conchita in 1964 it was revealed that the body of this son of Saint Ignatius would be found incorrupt on the day following the Great Miracle.

May update for a 2011 Great Warning

Well, it's now May 5th, 2011. We are one week away from the last strong candidate for a Great Miracle in 2011, St. Pancras.
Conchita indicated that the Great Warning would happen within one year in advance of the Great Miracle and that she would announce the Great Miracle eight days in advance of it happening.
She has been forbidden by the Blessed Virgin to disclose it until eight days before it is to happen.
At this point, despite all the upheavals in the Middle East and the sense of foreboding in the air, it appears that the Great Miracle is not destined to happen this year.

Garabandal, could it hold an answer..

I for one am not convinced by the New age idea that mankind is on the verge of some evolutionary change in consciousness. Could Garabandal be hiding some of the answers?

The Chastisement

A look at the last and most fearsome of the three great supernatural events.

What happens after the Warning (bright star) and Miracle (Pines) will depend on the response to the Message.

Of the three great prophesied supernatural events of Garabandal, only the Chastisement is conditional. It can be averted. Whether or not it will be depends entirely on how the world responds to the Message after the Warning and Miracle.

In biblical times, God used the prophets to warn His people when their transgressions against the law were reaching the breaking point. In our time, it is the Blessed Virgin, queen of prophets, who fulfills that role. At Fatima she foretold the Second World War and the spread of atheistic communism if the world did not change. At Garabandal, she warns of the greatest cataclysm in human history since the deluge if mankind does not reform.

While the Chastisement has never been the favorite topic for discussion when it comes to Garabandal, it was primarily to warn us of this potential event that the Blessed Virgin appeared. This is supported by the fact that in the first Message of October 18, 1961, the message of Garabandal, the whole second part, more than fifty percent of the text of the entire Message, is devoted to the Chastisement. The first part tells us what we must do to prevent it from happening.

In the second Message of June 18, 1965, delivered to Conchita by St. Michael on behalf of the Virgin, reference to the Chastisement is again made when Our Lady says: "Before the cup was filling up; now it is flowing over....You should turn the wrath of God away from yourselves by your efforts. "

Neither the Warning nor the Miracle are mentioned in the two formal Messages, but they play an important role nonetheless in regard to the Chastisement. If it is true that God always warns before He strikes, then the world should know of the threat of this Chastisement which at the present time it does not. But after the worldwide Warning and the great Miracle, the appearances of the Blessed Virgin at Garabandal, with her Message (containing the threat of a Chastisement), should become common knowledge. It will be at this point, when the Message is universally known, that the way will be cleared for the Chastisement to take place if that is what divine justice decrees.

In his book THE APPARITIONS OF GARABANDAL, Francisco Sanchez-Venture y Pascual includes the following note written by Conchita about the Chastisement:
The Chastisement is conditional and depends on whether or not mankind heeds the messages of the Blessed Virgin and the Miracle. If it should take place, I know what it will consist of because the Blessed Virgin told me about it, but I am not permitted to say what it is. Moreover, I have seen the Chastisement. I can assure you that if it comes, it will be worse than being enveloped in fire, worse than having fire above and beneath you. I do not know how much time will elapse between the Miracle and the Chastisement.

On the feast of the Holy Rosary, October 7, 1962, Maria Herrero de Gallardo was in Garabandal and took the occasion to question Mari Loli about the visions of June 19-20, 1962 (the Nights of the Screams), and what she and the other visionaries could possibly have seen to cause them to cry out in such a terrifying manner. Sefiora Herrero reported:
"Oh!" exclaimed the girl. "That was horrible to see. We were really frightened, and I know no words that could explain it. We saw rivers change into blood.... Fire fell from the sky.... And something much worse still, which I'm not able to reveal now."

Further information from Loli was contained in messages bearing her signature that were presented to Maria Saraco and published in 1970 by Fernand Corteville in his newsletter L'Impartial (No.31):
In spite of continuing to see the Virgin, (during the Nights of the Screams) we saw a great multitude of people who were suffering intensely and screaming in terror. The Blessed Virgin explained to us that this great tribulation, which was not even the Chastisement, would come because a time would arrive when the Church would appear to be on the point of perishing. It would pass through a terrible trial. We asked the Virgin what this great trial was called and she told us it was "Communism." Then she showed us how the great Chastisement for all mankind would come, and that it would come directly from God.
At a certain moment, not a single motor or machine would function; a terrible heat wave will strike the earth and men will begin to feel a great thirst. In desperation they will seek water, but this will evaporate from the heat. Then almost everyone will despair and they will seek to kill one another. But they will lose their strength and fall to the ground. Then it will be understood that it is God alone Who has permitted this.

Then we saw a crowd in the midst of flames. The people ran to hurl themselves into the lakes and seas. But the water seemed to boil, and instead of putting out the flames, it seemed to enkindle them even more. It was so horrible that I asked the Blessed Virgin to take all the young children with her before all this happened. But the Virgin told us that by the time it came, they would all be adults.

The four visionaries from left: Jacinta, Mari Cruz, Conchita, and Mari-Loli in 1962.

According to the first Message of Our Lady, the Chastisement is conditional and can be averted. However, if history repeats itself, as it usually does, then it's hard to see it not happening. Both at La Salette and Fatima conditions were given by Our Lady that, if met, would forestall the impending threatened punishments. The warnings were not heeded and the rest is history.

Did the Chastisement change from being conditional to unavoidable during the events themselves? The first Message of Our Lady delivered on October 18, 1961, had virtually no effect, and so after the first night of screams on June 19, 1962, Mari Loli and Jacinta wrote a message which was followed a few days later by a second one. These messages can only be described as dire.

On August 7, 1971, in a message to American Garabandal workers, Conchita twice made reference to the Chastisement and her belief that it would indeed take place:
We are now in the last warnings, in the final moments. God has already prepared us for all the last things, even the Chastisement, for it is needed. The Chastisement must come because the Miracle will not suffice by itself to make us change. It is true that we will change after seeing the Miracle, but then we will fall again. That is why all of us who hear these words should prepare ourselves and induce all those around us, all those within our reach, to change their lives...
...However, it will not be possible to avoid the Chastisement because we have now lost even the sense of sin. We have reached such an extremity that God cannot now avoid sending the Chastisement. We need it for our own good. Those who survive the Chastisement will change very much and then we sh all live for God until the end of time, which will also arrive.[OUR LADY COMES TO GARABANDAL, by Joseph Pelletier, A.A.]

Regarding the above statements of Conchita, which the visionary herself acknowledged were only her own opinion, Father Joseph Pelletier had this to say: "Conchita's opinion...must always be considered as strictly her own. No matter how much one may be tempted to agree with her position on the matter, that position does not reflect Our Lady's very precise words which always have presented the Chastisement as conditional, as a thing that can be avoided. Let us heed Conchita and not attach an importance to her words that they do not warrant. What Our Lady has said is one thing. What Conchita conjectures will happen, may very well happen. But it is always her conjecture and she could be wrong." [OUR LADY COMES TO GARABANDAL, by Joseph Pelletier, A.A.]

That certainly is a fair analysis. In fact, when interviewed by Father Francis Benac, S.J., in 1978, [THE CALL OF GARABANDAL] Conchita expressed a different view:
Father Benac: We read in the books [on Garabandal] that on that night of the screams, Our Lady advised that nobody should be around you, that she wanted you girls to be all alone. Could you explain that? Was it about the Chastisement? Did you see it and if so, how would you describe it?
Conchita: Oh I don't know; I don't remember. I don't want to remember.
Benac: Would you mind repeating that?
Conchita: No, that I don't want to even remember it, it was so terrible.
Benac: Would it be a Chastisement such as an atomic war?
Conchita: I don't know; I have never seen such a thing in my life nor could I imagine it.
Benac: Do you think the Chastisement can be averted with prayer?
Conchita: I think so. I don't think that it should take place; I think it won't happen. I t seems to me that it would be impossible for such a thing to happen. It is for this reason that I believe God is sending us the Aviso (Warning) so that we may acknowledge all the evil within us. Later He will send us the Miracle to manifest His love and His presence amongst us.....I feel that it is impossible that after this we should not change.

However, two years later in 1980, when Conchita was interviewed by the BBC, she again expressed her view that the Chastisement would come: "I think we're going to get the punishment."

Another statement made by her suggests that it's a foregone conclusion: "Prior to this, the Blessed Virgin had told me that Jesus is not going to send the Chastisement to discourage us, but to help us and to reprimand us for not heeding Him." [OUR LADY COMES TO GARABANDAL]

Blessed Anna-Maria Taigi saw a future "Three Days of Darkness" which is generally believed to be the same event as the Chastisement prophesied at Garabandal. Blessed Elizabeth Canorii-Mora, a contemporary of Blessed Anna Maria, also saw this same event.

While all this points to the actuality of the Chastisement, it nevertheless still can be avoided simply because the Blessed Virgin said so. Much must happen first: the communist tribulation, the Warning and the Miracle. According to Conchita's locution with Jesus on June 21, 1963, He told her that as a result of the Miracle, Russia and other countries would be converted. This seems to suggest that if the Chastisement does come, it will not be for a while although we really don't know.

In November, 1967, Spanish artist Isabel Daganzo, who wanted to commit to canvas representational images of the visions of Garabandal, had a number of interviews with Conchita while the visionary was at school in Burgos. One of the questions she asked was: "Could you speak about something that I could put on canvas that could cause fear?" Conchita replied: "No. What I have seen that could cause fear is the Chastisement, and I can't tell you about that. Besides, terror and fear are not the best means to move souls."

This shows good insight on the part of Conchita. To dwell too much on the destructive nature of the Chastisement could lead to moroseness and would oppose a healthy spiritual outlook. Everything happens within the providence of God even the Chastisement if it should come. If it does happen, it will be because that is the best and most necessary thing to happen at that particular time. And even in this cataclysmic event can be seen divine mercy. If the glory of God in the world is on the verge of being overwhelmed by evil, He will intervene to preserve the good.

The Three Phases of Garabandal (Pt. 7): The Final Phase

Reprinted from:

The final phase will begin with the Warning. There are some today who say the Warning does not belong exclusively to Garabandal since it had been predicted by Blessed Anna Maria Taigi (1769-1837) and possibly St. Edmund Campion (1540-1581). But there clearly is a difference between prophecies made of a future event by those who lived in former centuries, and an event being announced for those who will experience it in their lifetime. And who ever spoke of this event until Garabandal? It was Garabandal that made it known, revealed of what it will consist, and gave it a time frame. Mari Loli knows the year when it will occur. Furthermore, to take this event out of the context of Garabandal would be to overlook its purpose of preparing the world for the great Miracle.

The Warning is very much a part of the Garabandal events and will initiate the final phase—and more. Conchita has said that "when you see the Warning you'll know you have opened up the end of time."

Within a twelve-month period after the Warning will come the Miracle. Conchita has expressed her opinion that the two events will be close together.

With the Miracle comes the end of the Garabandal events (excluding the conditional Chastisement) and we can all look forward to the fulfillment of Our Lady's words that when the Miracle happens, "all will believe."

The Great Warning

I found this on GLP. The original source page is unavailable:

OF THE THREE GREAT prophesied events of Garabandal: the Warning, Miracle and Chastisement, the one that has always aroused the greatest interest and the one that everyone looks forward to the most is the great Miracle. The main reason for this is that the Miracle is of a positive nature while the other two are negative. The Warning and Chastisement deal with punishment and pain, which are contrary to our human nature while the Miracle is joyful, glorious, healing, fructifying, unifying, restorative. We don't know what immediate effect it will have on those who watch it on television, if it even is televised, but for those who see it in person the impact will be so great that, as the Virgin told Conchita, they will need a special grace to keep from dying of joy.

When Conchita was asked how non-Christians would interpret the Warning, she said that they will believe it is a warning from God. While this would be expected, can it nevertheless not be said that the Warning will come from Him? Didn't He Himself say: "All power has been given to Me in heaven and in earth" (Mt 28:18)?
But Jesus does not reveal Himself universally to everyone in the Warning. In the Miracle, however, there is no doubt since Conchita has told us in advance that "it will be the greatest Miracle Jesus has ever performed for the world." We cannot help looking forward to this world-changing event and the effect it will have on Christians and non-Christians alike.
Is the Miracle greater than the Warning? When one considers that the Warning will touch the entire population of the world, it doesn't seem that anything could be more all-encompassing. But Conchita has said that the Warning would "correct the conscience of the world and prepare it for the great Miracle." Something that is in preparation for something else is normally subordinate to it. So how is the Miracle greater than the Warning? It is greater in its purpose. While the Warning is meant to illumine and correct all consciences, it is not designed to convert the world. That is reserved for the Miracle. In Conchita's locution with Our Lord dated July 20, 1963, she asked Him: "Why is the Miracle going to take place, to convert many people?" And He answered: "TO CONVERT THE WHOLE WORLD."
While the Miracle will only take place in one geographical location, the graces that will radiate out from there will cover the entire world.

The most important thing about Garabandal is the Message. To deliver the Message was why Our Lady appeared in the first place and the Warning and Miracle are means to augment a true and widespread living of that Message. But those two supernatural events nonetheless, in their role as means to an end, have very great importance, and for the Miracle, that importance can be measured by how early in the events its revelation begins to emerge.
The notes of village pastor, Father Valentin Marichalar, inform us that on the night of September 3-4, 1961, two months after Our Lady's first appearance, Jacinta, Loli and Conchita had a marvelous ecstasy in front of the church door that lasted until three o'clock in the morning. As the girls lay on the ground formed in one of those remarkably beautiful group sculptures, Conchita was heard to say: "How beautiful the Miracle is!" How I would like you to perform it soon! Why haven't you done so already? Do it, even if it would be only for those who believe. For those who don't believe, it doesn't matter."
On October 20, 1961, two days after the Message was read at the Pines and caused so much disappointment, Jacinta was heard to say in ecstasy: "No one believes us anymore, do you know?... So you can perform a very great miracle in order that many will believe again." The Virgin smiled and responded: "They will believe."
On March 16, 1962, Mari Loli was asking Our Lady with insistence for the cure of a woman who was losing her eyesight and finally exclaimed loudly: "Go ahead! Cure this woman, Alicia's mother, who already does not see out of one eye, and will not see the miracle that you will make in the sky." (Father Valentin's notes)
In early July 1962, when Conchita informed Dr. Celestino Ortiz of Santander about the Miracle of the Visible Host that would take place on July 18, 1962, he told her it was a very great miracle for something to be announced in advance and then realized. She responded: "But to me this seems to be a very little miracle. Later the Virgin's miracle will come, and that will be a Miracle! Then there won't be any doubt."
As the Garabandal events continued to progress and more about the Miracle was gradually revealed, it became increasingly clear that of the visionaries, only Conchita would know anything about it. PHOTO: Conchita in ecstasy. She was the only one told about the Miracle.
Toward the end of an ecstasy in the early morning hours of September 5, 1962, while someone had a microphone near her mouth, Conchita said to her Vision: "You say there's going to be a miracle? And the miracle is going to be that?... And the Virgin will be seen?... And when?... So far off?... With me alone... No, I don't want that... Don't do that! Perform it with the four..."
A few days later on September 9, 1962, Dr. Ortiz, his wife and his wife's cousin were about to sit down for a meal in Conchita's Aunt Maximina's house when Conchita stopped by. Maximina started kidding her: "We already know your secrets that there is going to be a miracle! You can't deny it, since it's been recorded on tape." Conchita smiled, and after a moment of silence said, "Yes, there's going to be a miracle. The Virgin told me, and it's going to be very great..."
"When will it be?"
"I don't know."
"Then none of us will see it."
"Everyone will see it who is here. And the pope, from wherever he is. And also Padre Pio. Every day I pray that the miracle will be with all [four] of us. But don't say anything to anyone."
While Conchita would be the one fully informed about the Miracle, in a letter dated October 8, 1962, to Father Jose Ramon Garcia de la Riva, Mari Loli made it clear that the other visionaries had at least been told about it: "To Father Jose Ramon: the Virgin told us there is going to be a miracle."

During an early morning ecstasy on November 25, 1962, Placido Ruiloba was present with his recorder and taped what Conchita was saying in ecstasy regarding the Miracle. Later she confirmed what was heard on the tape which was summarized as follows:
? The miracle will be at 8:30 in the evening, same as the first apparition.? It would last a quarter of an hour.? It would be seen in the sky, and so clearly, that there would be no doubt that it came from God.? The sick who come on that day will be cured. But what about the date when it will occur? Dr. Ortiz, who was present during the above mentioned ecstasy, reported: "After the ecstasy, the girl was radiant with joy. We insisted she tell us the date of the Miracle, but she said the time hadn't come and that we should have patience. She could only reveal the date eight days in advance but said that the Miracle would definitely come, since the Virgin had said it, and she could not lie."
If Conchita did not know the exact date by this time, she knew approximately when it would occur and that eventually she would be told the date.
On December 6, 1962, she had a 90 minute ecstasy around 5:30 in the afternoon after which, she provided two more pieces of information regarding the Miracle: 1) One day, a little before the Miracle, something will happen that will cause many people to stop believing in the apparitions of Garabandal. The doubts and desertions will not be due to an excessive delay of the Miracle. 2) On the day of the Miracle, the note that she signed in Santander (stating that the apparitions were not authentic) will disappear.
The revelations about the Miracle for 1962 ended on December 15 as recorded in Father Valentin's notes: "Conchita told Mercedes Salisachs that a totally paralyzed man would be cured on the day of the Miracle wherever he was."
On January 15, 1963, by which time Mari Cruz, Jacinta and Mari Loli had stopped having visions, Conchita again fell into ecstasy. Later in the day she said to her Aunt Maximina: "Look Aunt, don't tell this to my mother, but today the angel told me the date of the Miracle."
PHOTO: The road leading to San Sebastian de Garabandal.
From this point on, Conchita would have only four more apparitions: one more in 1963, none in 1964 and three in 1965 with the last one being on November 13, 1965. However, beginning in March, 1963, she began having locutions, and significantly enough, her first locution had to do with the Miracle.
When the other three visionaries stopped having visions, they immediately began to doubt their experiences, as Our Lady said they would, and Conchita also seems to have been smitten as she explains in her diary: I also doubted a bit whether the miracle would take place. And one day when I was in my room doubting if the miracle would occur, I heard a voice that said: "Conchita, do not doubt that my Son will perform a miracle!" I heard it interiorly, as clearly as if through my ears and even better than if it had been through words. It left me with a peace and a joy even greater than that experienced when I saw her.

On August 2, 1964, Conchita wrote a letter to Father Ramón Andreu which included this startling revelation: "On July 18, [1964] the feast day of San Sebastian de Garabandal, I had a locution, and in this locution, I was told that on the day after the Miracle your brother [Father Luis Andreu] will be taken out of his tomb and his body will be found incorrupt."
The revelation of the Miracle at Garabandal was like a golden thread woven throughout the rich tapestry of the events starting not long after the beginning and continuing throughout. Finally, when Conchita had received the full revelation, she was able to tell Francisco Sanchez-Ventura all she was permitted to say which he published in his book LAS APARICIONES No SON UN MITO: I am the only one to whom the Blessed Virgin spoke of the miracle. She forbade me to say what it will consist of. I can't announce the date either until eight days before it is due to occur. What I can reveal is that it will coincide with an event in the Church and with the feast of a saint, martyr of the Eucharist; that it will take place at eight thirty on a Thursday evening; that it will be visible to all those who are in the village and surrounding mountains; that the sick who are present will be cured and the incredulous will believe, it will be the greatest miracle that Jesus has performed for the world. There won't be the slightest doubt that it comes from God and that it is for the good of mankind. A sign of the miracle which it will be possible to film or televise, will remain forever at the pines.

"Conchita, do not doubt that my Son will perform a miracle!"

In this summary, however, Conchita made one omission that is included in her diary and should come right after she says "the incredulous will believe," and it is that "sinners will be converted."
With so many people pressing Conchita for more information about the Miracle, she consented to state the following: it will occur between the eighth and sixteenth of either March, April or May.
We don't know for certain what the worldwide impact of the Miracle will be, but all indications are that it will be massive. In her locution with Our Lord on July 20, 1963, Conchita asked Him if as a result of the Miracle Russia will be converted. He replied: "Yes, she also will be converted, and thus everybody will love Our hearts." The word "also" has been italicized here because of its significance. In Father Pelletier's otherwise excellent translation of this locution in his book OUR LADY COMES TO GARABANDAL (page 144) the word "also" is left out, but it does appear in Conchita's original handwritten diary. It indicates that other countries besides Russia will be converted.
Will the Miracle initiate the unification of all Christians? We don't know, but that unification has also been foretold by Our Lady at Garabandal.
The greatest event in human history was the Incarnation when the Second Person of the Blessed Trinity took on human flesh. No other event can ever compare with that. But it took another great event, the Resurrection, to confirm that the first one really happened. For if Christ did not rise on the third day as He said He would, then He could not have been the Messiah and therefore there could not have been the Incarnation. All His great teachings and miracles would have been discounted and explained away had there not been an empty tomb on that third day. But He did rise and the rest is salvation history.
While Father Luis Andreu, S.J., (right) was observing the visionaries in ecstasy at the Pines in Garabandal on August 8, 1961, witnesses heard him suddenly cry out "Miracle!" four times.
On that fateful night, he became the only person other than the visionaries to see the Blessed Virgin at Garabandal. What's more, he saw what the seers did not see: a preview of the great Miracle. On the drive home in the early hours of the next morning, he was filled wiith joy and said: "What a favor the Virgin has given me. How fortunate we are to have a mother like that in heaven. This is the happiest day of my life." He then died in great peace even though there was nothing wrong with him.
Padre Pio saw the Miracle before he died according to Father Bernardino Cennamo, OF.M., who said that the future saint had told him so himself.

There will be many reported "apparitions" throughout the world. (This prophecy made in December, 1962, has already been fulfilled.)A Bishop of Santander will come along who will not believe at first but will receive a sign and allow priests to go up to Garabandal for the Miracle. Shortly before the Miracle something will happen that will cause people to stop believing in Garabandal. A period of 12 months or less will elapse from the time of the Warning to the Miracle.Conchita will announce it eight days in advance.
Day of the Miracle
will occur on a Thursday at 8:30 in the evening between the eighth and sixteenth of March, April or May. It will coincide with a great ecclesiastical event in the Church. It will be on the feast day of a young martyr. It will last fifteen minutes. It will be seen in the sky. All those either in the village or on the surrounding mountains will see it. The sick who are present will be cured, sinners converted and the incredulous will believe. It will be the greatest miracle that Jesus has ever performed for the world. Padre Pio will see it (see above) and the Pope (John Paul II) from wherever he is at the time.
After the Miracle
A permanent, visible supernatural sign will remain at the Pines until the end of time. It will be possible to televise, film and photograph this wonder but not touch it. It has been likened to a column of smoke or a ray of sunlight but is not either one. As a result of the Miracle, Russia and other countries will be converted. On the day after the Miracle, the body of Father Luis Andreu will be removed from his grave and found incorrupt.
With Garabandal, an analogy can be made in the sense that one event will serve to confirm the authenticity of all that preceded it. For Garabandal, everything rides on the Miracle. If there is no miracle then all the marvelous ecstasies and the extraordinary phenomena associated with them, the messages, prophecies everything will be discredited.
But to help our belief that the Miracle will happen, abundant proofs of the divine origin of the events themselves have not only been given, but we also have the testimony of those who have already seen the Miracle in the persons of Father Luis Andreu and Saint Padre Pio.
Furthermore, we have been able to see for ourselves the fulfillment of prophecies made at Garabandal. So why should we doubt that the Miracle also will happen? Another point to consider is that, as demonstrated in this article, the promise of a great miracle was imbedded in the events, events that have proven their worthiness. How could the predicted Miracle, as part of those events, fail to have equal integrity? Besides, by the time of the Miracle, we will already have been conditioned for the spectacular since the Warning will by then have taken place.
One final reason why we should not doubt the Miracle is that we need it. In Conchita's diary is this entry: The Blessed Virgin advised me of a great miracle that God, Our Lord, will perform through her intercession. Just as the chastisement will be very, very great, in keeping with what we deserve, so too, the miracle will be extremely great, in keeping with the needs of the world.

Hope is one of the three theological virtues and in that context, we hope for our eternal salvation. But even for the needs of everyday life we have to have hope, especially today in an increasingly secularized and dangerous world. The Miracle gives us hope for better days when it ushers in the period of peace promised by Our Lady.

The Three Phases of Garabandal (Pt. 6): The Pre-Warning

Reprinted from:

Unlike the overlapping between the first and second phases, between the second and third there is a gap and in this gap is the pre-Warning period, a time of great distress when, because of the raging persecution, the Church will seem to have disappeared.[Interview with Mari Loli, NEEDLES Magazine, Autumn 1975.]

We do not know how widespread this tribulation will be nor how long it will last, but there can be no question that it was predicted at Garabandal. Three of the visionaries have spoken of it and have informed us that the name the Blessed Virgin gave to it was "communism." Some may find that a little hard to believe. Isn't communism dead? Apparently not. One prominent figure in the Garabandal movement claims that the tribulation has already happened and that it was embodied in the Soviet-style, Iron Curtain communism that afflicted Eastern Europe throughout most of the 20th century. This hypothesis, however, does not stand up when placed next to what the visionaries have told us. In 1979, Jacinta Moynihan was interviewed by Frenchmen Jacques Serre and Ramon Perez. Here is one of their questions and Jacinta's answer:

Q. Do you recall anything about a great tribulation, communism or Russia?

A. Yes, it was an invasion, well, something which seemed to me like an invasion; something that was a great evil in which communism played a great part, but I no longer remember which countries or what region was stricken. The Blessed Virgin insisted on telling us to pray (that it be averted). These difficult events will take place before the Warning because the Warning itself will take place when the situation will be at its worst.

PHOTO: Jacinta in Garabandal in 1999 offers a crucifix kissed by the Blessed Virgin to a visitor. She has said that the Warning will come when the situation is at its worst.

In another interview, Mari Loli said essentially the same thing, that the Warning would come "when we need it the most."

In light of the above, is this excerpt taken from an article written for the Homiletic and Pastoral Review, May 1983, by Fr. Joseph Brennan, O.C.S., in which the author summarized the prophetic statements made by Saints, Blesseds and Popes regarding our times:

They foretell a time of unprecedented and terrible confusion and suffering unlike anything ever experienced in human history. It will affect every area of human life. Everything on earth, including the earth itself, will be shaken to its core. Many institutions will never rise again though they be very ancient.
Christianity will undergo its most severe test of yet. There will be many casualties, many purifications. Such confusion will reign that it will appear that Christianity has almost vanished.

But then, as if to fulfill what Jesus said, "Unless those days be shortened no flesh shall survive," there will be a direct Divine intervention, both amazing and terrible, that will completely reverse the course of world events. This intervention occurs in response to the prayers, sufferings and outcries of millions of afflicted humanity.

As a result of all this there will be a turning to God that will match the apostasy from God that preceded it, with the result, as Our Lady said at Fatima, that "an era of peace will be granted to humanity." This will be a peace such as the world has never known and it will endure, apparently, for a considerable period.

The Warning of Garabandal

I found this on GLP. The original source page is unavailable:

The first of the three great prophesied supernatural events of Garabandal will be unprecedented in human history. It's been called different names. The Warning is the most common in the English language although this is not the best translation of Conchita's Spanish word for it: Aviso. Blessed Anna Maria Taigi referred to it as the Illumination of All Consciences which seems like a good description based on what has been revealed about it. And there is yet another name, the one the Blessed Virgin herself gave it that Conchita says begins with the letter "A" in Spanish but which she has never disclosed.

Every human being on the face of the earth will experience the Aviso from the smallest babies to the most elderly senior citizens, from the mentally retarded to the greatest intellects, from people of faith to agnostics and atheists. All races and all religions will experience it and people of all conditions of life. There are very few mystics in the world, probably only a small fraction of one percent of the total population. And yet at the moment of the Aviso, everyone on earth, for however long it lasts, will have a mystical experience.

Its Purpose
The Aviso will serve a number of purposes. The first although not the primary one, will be the most expedient from a practical point of view: to put an end to the communist aggression which will have engulfed the world. The second is the primary, as Conchita has said: "to correct the conscience of the world and prepare it for the great Miracle." And how the conscience of the world needs to be corrected, much more today than at any time from the apparitions until now!
The last purpose of the Aviso is "to serve notice" which, by the way, is the principal translation of the word aviso. But serve notice of what? That we're being given the last chance to avoid the Chastisement.

What Will It Be Like?
It's been said, and rightfully so, that one cannot imagine what one has never experienced. What's it like to jump out of an airplane if you have never done it? So no matter what the visionaries tell us about the Warning we will not really know what it is until we go through it. And it may well be an act of God's mercy that we don't know.
What we can say, based on the statements of the seers, is that it will be a devastating experience?the sinner suddenly seeing his soul in the light of the All Perfect One. St. Catherine of Genoa once said regarding the judgments of God: "He finds fault with everything."
What our reaction will be remains to be seen. Conchita has said: "I think that those who do not despair will draw great good from it for their sanctification." (1)
When Dr. J. Dominguez asked Conchita how long it would last, she said five minutes would be sufficient. Due to the intense interior suffering which the experience will entail, it might seem like a long time, and if it lasted any longer who could stand it? (If you O Lord laid bare our guilt who could endure it?).
Reflecting on this impending event ought to be sufficient incentive to "do much penance, make many sacrifices, visit the Blessed Sacrament frequently and lead good lives" in preparation.

When Will It Happen?
This excerpt is taken from the German book by Albrecht Weber, Garabandal Der Zeigefinger Gottes (Garabandal The Finger of God) (2):
Conchita told the author in 1965 when everything would be set in motion:
"When communism comes again everything will happen."
The author responded: "What do you mean by comes again?"
"Yes, when it newly comes again," she replied.
"Does that mean that communism will go away before that?"
"I don't know," she said in reply, "the Blessed Virgin simply said 'when communism comes again'."
In Conclusion
There have been major before and after events in human history. The first came at the very beginning when Adam and Eve sinned, irrevocably changing the course of that history. The Deluge was another, and the greatest of all was the Incarnation when God became man and dwelt among us.
There have been many others not of the same magnitude of the above but nevertheless of great significance, and the Warning promises to be one of them. How could the world ever be the same again afterwards?
In a letter dated December 11, 1965 to Fr. Jose Maria Alba, S.J., Conchita said: "The Blessed Virgin told me that we Catholic Christians do not think about the other world, heaven or hell. She said that we should think about them and that if we did, our lives would be united with Christ."

The Warning will certainly cause us to think more of our final destiny.

The Three Phases of Garabandal (Pt. 5): When will it end?

Reprinted from:

When will the second phase end and how close are we to the third and final phase of Garabandal? We can't give definite answers to those questions, but what we can say is that the phase for spreading the Message will end when we can no longer do it, for whatever reason, whether it be a general falling away of belief in Garabandal, which has been predicted, and/or the arrival of the pre-Warning tribulation/persecution period.

But even aside from anything dramatic, there are telltale signs that we are approaching the end of the second phase: the age and health of John Paul II, who is the Pope who will see the Miracle; the incredible downward moral spiral of formerly Christian societies which seems to accelerate with each passing day; the serious problems in the Church, especially regarding the Holy Eucharist where an estimated 60-70 percent of Catholics in the U.S. no longer believe in the Real Presence (a trend like this cannot continue if the Church is going to exist—and we know it will).

Garabandal's Prophecy About Communism

To speak of communism today seems almost anachronistic. Isn't communism a thing of the past? According to what the Blessed Virgin told the visionaries of Garabandal the answer is no. Communism will again appear on the scene and cause great suffering before its reign of terror is suddenly ended.

On the two nights preceding the feast of Corpus Christi in 1962, the young seers of Garabandal had visions; but the visions they saw on these nights were far different from the ones they had become accustomed to seeing. They were heard screaming in terror as future events unfolded before their eyes. At the Virgin's request, the onlookers were to keep at a distance and this injunction was faithfully observed. But even though farther away, the girls' screams were so terrifying that shock-like currents rippled through the huddled crowd causing tremendous fear. Witness Manolin Diez said these unearthly screams were not the normal screams of 12 and 13 year old girls.
The second night was the worst as the visionaries saw scenes of the Chastisement God will send if the world does not change after the Warning and Miracle. Since the Chastisement will be the subject of the last part in this series we will say no more about it now.
Our focus here is on what the girls saw the first of these two nights which have come to be called las Noches de los Gritos the Nights of Screams. On that first night, they saw the time
before the Warning, a time of great trial for the Church and the world.

Conchita was not present with the other three on this first night. She had a bad knee so her mother did not allow her to go out. Interestingly enough, she went into ecstasy in her house anyway and fell to her knees with such force that they started to bleed. It is unlikely that she saw the same things as the others although some of the revelations seem to have been imparted to her as well. Later, in subsequent visions, she will learn more.

Their tear-stained faces and incoherent speech immediately afterwards attested to the trauma experienced by Jacinta, Mari Loli and Mari Cruz during the first night of screams and it doesn't appear that they gave any details of what they experienced for quite some time.
Mari Loli seems to have been the first to speak about it when in 1967, she provided information to a Mexican priest, Father Gustavo Morelos. Three years later, the same information, in the possession of Maria Saraco, had been written down and confirmed by Mari Loli with her own signature. It reads as follows: In spite of continuing to see the Virgin, [during the first night of screams] we saw a great multitude of people who were suffering intensely and screaming in terror. The Blessed Virgin explained to us that this great tribulation, which was not even the Chastisement, would come because a time would arrive when the Church would appear to be on the point of perishing. It would pass through a terrible trial. We asked the Virgin what this great trial was called and she told us it was "communism." [SHE WENT IN HASTE TO THE MOUNTAIN by Eusebio Garcia de Pesquera, O.F.M. Cap.]
This first revelation about communism would be expanded upon further by the visionaries in later years.
With the coming down of the Berlin Wall and freedom being granted to the former Eastern Block countries, it appeared as though communism at least Russian communism since much of Asia is still red was finished. And this is what the media proclaimed. However, everyone was not convinced. A few short years ago while in Canada,
I spoke with a priest from an Eastern European country who had lived under communist rule. He said that Americans are very naive in thinking that communism is dead; in his country today, the same people who were in power under communism are still in power. Another gentleman, a Ph.D., from a different Eastern European country, expressed the exact same sentiments.
According to Garabandal, communism will again be a force to be reckoned with in one final attempt at world domination. On September 29, 1978, Father Francis Benac, S.J., interviewed Mari Loli at her home in Massachusetts. Here are some of the questions and answers pertinent to our subject. FATHER BENAC: Did the Blessed Virgin speak of communism? MARI LOLI: Our Lady spoke several times about communism. I don't remember how many times, but she said that a time would come when it would seem that communism had mastered or engulfed the whole world. I think it was then that she told us that priests would have difficulty saying Mass, and talking about God and divine things. FR. BENAC: Did Our Lady ever speak of people being put to death? LOLI: What Our Lady said was that priests would have to go into hiding but I didn't see whether they were being killed or not. She didn't exactly say they would be killed, but I'm su re they would be martyred. FR. BENAC: Your mother told me that one night you were upstairs with your father and that you cried and cried for one hour. Afterwards your father said to her: "I have just seen the most touching sight. Loli was crying the whole time while saying, 'Oh, it's going to be like that? People are going to suffer like that? Oh, make me suffer!'" Do you remember what you said at the time? LOLI: It was all related to communism and what is going to happen in the Church and to the people because all these things are to have repercussions amongst the people. When the Church suffers confusion, the people are going to suffer too. Some priests who are communists will create such confusion that people will not know right from wrong.[THE CALL OF GARABANDAL, Apr-Jun 1984.]
This last statement of Mari Loli's should make us wonder if the blame for all that is wrong in the Church today has always been properly placed. It seems very little consideration has been given to the possibility that an evil force has deliberately infiltrated the Church with the intention of trying to destroy it. The other day I was speaking with Harry Daley, author of Miracle at Garabandal Harry was a good friend of
the late Father Walter Ciszek, S.J., who spent 15 years in Soviet prisons and Siberian labor camps, and lived to tell about it in his book With God in Russia (Ignatius Press). Harry visited Fr. Ciszek (a believer in Garabandal by the way) often and on one of his visits, Father went to great lengths explaining how the communists tried to recruit him, promising him all kinds of benefits, if he would work as their agent in the Church and join the network that was already in place.
What geographic areas will experience this communist persecution? Some references have been made specifically to Spain.
On February 23, 1943, Sister Lucy, the sole surviving seer of the Fatima apparitions who spent 21 years in Spain at Tuy and Pontevedra, sent a statement to Bishop Antonio Garcia of Tuy-Vigo which read: "If the bishops of Spain listen to the desires already manifested by Our Lord, and begin a true reform of the people and clergy, then it I will go well. But if not, she (Russia) will again be the enemy by which God will punish her once more."[SHE WENT IN HASTE TO THE MOUNTAIN] And Conchita has said that communism will return to Spain, [GarabandalNuevo Pentecostes, 1984.] but she went on to say that it will suffer less than other areas of Europe because of the persecution it had already endured during the Spanish Civil War (1936-39) where 13 bishops and more than 7,000 priests and religious were put to death. We asked the Virgin what this great trial was called and she told us it was "communism."
Of all the visionaries, Mari Loli has revealed the most of what Our Lady said about communism.
Would the persecution just be in Europe?
When Loli was asked that question she responded that the way she saw it, she thought it would be more than that. Conchita's Aunt Antonia testified to having heard the visionaries say in ecstasy that "if we don't amend our ways, Russia will take possession of the whole world." [GARABANDAL EL PUEBLO HABLA by Ramon Perez.] If that be the case, then the persecution will in all likelihood go beyond the confines of Europe. But it appears
that Europe will feel the brunt of it as the following excerpt from Garabandal-Der Zeigefinger Gottes by Albrecht Weber indicates: Conchita mentioned that Padre Pio, during her visit with him, said to her "The great wonder of God [Miracle] must be paid for with much blood throughout Europe." [Since this information is new to many English readers we contacted Mr. Weber to confirm the source. He responded that Conchita mentioned it in the presence of his mother, Eloise De guia and himself, and that his mother wrote it down word for word.]
Aside from Garabandal, this great trial has been mentioned in the writings of saints, popes and blesseds as summarized by Fr. Joseph Brennan, O.C.S. in his article "Prophecy for Our Time" that appeared in the May 1983 edition of the Homiletic and Pastoral Review: "Christianity will undergo its most severe test of yet. There will be many casualties, many purifications. Such confusion will reign that it will appear that Christianity has almost vanished."
With no human force able to stop the persecution, God will have to intervene. Jacinta told Frenchmen Ramon Perez and Jacques Serre in 1979: "These difficult events will take place before the Warning because the Warning itself will occur when the situation will be at its worst."
This is corroborated in Father Brennan's article: "But then, as if to fulfill what Jesus said, 'Unless those days be shortened no flesh shall survive,' there will be a direct Divine intervention, both amazing and terrible, that will completely reverse the course of world events."
An excerpt from the above mentioned German book further informs us: Mrs. [Christine] Bocabeille then asked Mari Loli: "If you are not allowed to tell me the exact year [of the Warning], perhaps you could tell me approximately when it will happen." "Yes, it will be at that time when the world will most need it."
"When is that?"
"When Russia will unexpectedly and suddenly overrun and overwhelm a great part of the free world. God does not want this to happen so quickly. In any case the Warning will come when you will see that Holy Mass cannot be celebrated freely anymore; then it will be that the world will most need the intervention of God."
For our further reflection, keeping in mind that prophecy is a charism of the papacy, is this quote from Blessed Pius IX : "There will come a great sign that will fill the world with awe. But this will occur only after the triumph of a revolution during which the Church will undergo ordeals which are beyond description." We don't know when all this will happen, but Albrecht Weber's book contains this statement attributed to Conchita: "The pope will go to Russia, to Moscow. As soon as he returns to the Vatican, hostilities will break out in different parts of Europe." [The source for this information was also requested. Mr. Weber responded: "Conchita said this in a long conversation at her house on November 14,1965."]
A worldwide communist takeover led by Russia will appear to have succeeded and in the midst of this frightful aggression will be a harrowing persecution of the Church. Priests will have to go into hiding, the churches boarded up and it will become very difficult for the faithful to practice their religion. It will seem as though the Church had disappeared. The duration of this persecution is not known but it will take an act of God, the Warning, to stop it.
To close on a positive note, we again quote from Fr. Brennan's 1983 article: As a result of all this there will be a turning to God that will match the apostasy from God that preceded it, with the result, as Our Lady said at Fatima, that "an era of peace will be granted to humanity." This will be a peace such as the world has never known.

The Three Phases of Garabandal (Pt. 4): Why is it taking so long?

Reprinted from

Here we are now 37 years later and still in the spreading-the-Message phase. Why is it taking so long to get to the final, supernatural events stage? There are two answers that come to mind. The first is the importance that the Message reach as many people as possible. In the first Message, which is really the message that the Blessed Virgin came to deliver, 51 percent of the text deals with the Chastisement. It is imperative that people know what fate awaits them if there is not a universal amendment of life.

The second answer is—technology. The Blessed Virgin knew that in time there would be advancements in communications that would make it possible to spread the Message far more widely than ever before through cable and satellite television, video cassettes and most recently, the internet.

Joey Lomangino suffered a minor heart attack

As you may know, during this past Lenten season Joey Lomangino suffered a minor heart attack. His condition is now stable and he is experiencing a strong recovery. This year, by God's grace, Joey will turn 80 years old, an event which he is looking forward to. Your prayers for his full recovery are much appreciated.

Dividing the overall Garabandal event into three phases is certainly done arbitrarily; there are no hard and fast rules, and there is some overlapping of phases. Even during the first phase, after the announcement of the first Message on October 18, 1961, it was the Virgin's wish that the Message begin to spread at that point. There was even a lull in the events through most of the 1963-64 period for its propagation, but that did not happen. So, in Her second and final Message of June 18, 1965, Our Lady began with the complaint that little had been done to make Her Message known. But the real overlapping of the first and second phases, according to our division, can be seen with the announcement of the second Message six months before the last apparition of Our Lady. Those who were present for the reading of the Message on the day following Conchita's ecstasy, were deeply effected and some started to do something about it.

Today, through the efforts of those who answered the call and the organizations that have been established specifically for this purpose, the Message of Garabandal has spread and continues to spread throughout the world.

The Three Phases of Garabandal (Pt. 2): The First Phase

Reprinted from

June 18, 1961, marked the beginning of the first phase when St. Michael appeared to the visionaries in the calleja. After nine more visits by the angel, the Blessed Virgin appeared on July second and subsequently hundreds of times thereafter until the close of the apparitions on November 13, 1965. This four-year span can also be subdivided into the period of frequent apparitions, which lasted from the beginning until January, 1963, and the time of infrequent visions from that time until November, 1965. During this second period, only Conchita had visions, although both she and Mari Loli experienced locutions.

Even though Conchita did have one final locution in February 1966, the 1960s events are generally considered to have ended on November 13, 1965, the last apparition of the Blessed Virgin. We might also call this the Marian phase of Garabandal since the last phase has to do with God's direct intervention.

With the end of the first phase, the Blessed Virgin completed Her mission to announce an important Message and She did all that She could, through a spectacular display of phenomena, to insure that the Message truly was from Heaven and therefore ought to be heeded.

One could argue that Fatima is also not yet complete, as we still await the triumph of the Immaculate Heart of Mary and the promised era of peace. While that may be true, the events that took place in Fatima ended in 1917. The Miracle promised at Garabandal is to take place in Garabandal, the same locale as the 1961-65 events, and is the culmination of them. When all is said and done, Garabandal will not only have spanned two centuries, but two millennia.
Because of the long lapse of time before its fulfillment, Garabandal can be divided into three phases: the time of the apparitions; the time for the spread of the Message; and the time of the final supernatural events, namely the Aviso (Warning) and Miracle.

A Summary of the Prophecy of Garabandal

This is a summary of the Garabandal prophecy from Izakovic's site at The website is loaded with interested information and I thought that this exerpt provides a concise introduction to what happened at Garabandal.

This brings to mind the Prophecy of Garabandal, a series of apparitions of Our Lady that took place during the period between 1961 and 1965 in a small village of San Sebastian de Garabandal in northern Spain, in the Santander province, near the Picos de Europa mountains. It describes the sequence of four events: The Warning, The Miracle, The Sign, and The Chastisement.

It is said that the Warning shall come when the conditions of our world were at their worst and that during this event every human on Earth will see the wrong he/she has done and the good he/she has failed to do. The Warning will be sent by God to correct the conscience of the world and prepare it for the great Miracle.

One of the seers, Mari-Lori, knows the year of the Warning and she has said that the Miracle will take place inside one year after the Warning, on a Thursday evening at 8:30 on or between the eighth and the sixteenth of March, April or May, at the grove of pine trees on a bluff overlooking the village of Garabandal. It will be the feast day of a martyr of the Eucharist and that will coincide with a great event in the Church. Visionary Conchita Gonzalez-Keena has announced that she knows the date when the Miracle will occur and that it will announce it eight days in advance.

It is believed that during this event the sick who are present will be cured, sinners converted and the incredulous will become believers. As a result of this Miracle, Russia will be converted.
Permanent sign will remain at the place of this event, and if the world does not change the God will send the Chastisement.

The Garabandal Story: The Last Apparition

On Saturday, November 13, 1965 Conchita had her last apparition of Our Lady in Garabandal. She gives the details in a letter of which the following is a literal translation:

"One day in church Our Lady told me in a locution that I would see her on Saturday, November 13, at the pines; it would be a special apparition to kiss the religious objects so that I could give them away afterwards. I was anxious for this day to arrive so that I could see again the Blessed Virgin and the Child Jesus who have implanted in my life the seed of God's happiness.
It was raining but it did not matter to me. I went up to the Pines carrying with me the many rosaries which people have given to me to distribute them... As I was going up I was talking to myself, being sorry for my defects, desiring not to fall into them again, for it gave me much worry to appear before the Mother of God without wiping them out.

When I arrived at the pines, I began to take the rosaries out and heard a sweet voice, that of the Virgin, which you always distinguish among others, calling me by my name. I answered her 'what?' At that very moment I saw Her with the Child in her arms. She was dressed as usual and smiling. I told Her, 'I have come to bring you the rosaries so that you can kiss them.' She said to me, 'I can see it.' I had been chewing gum, but as I was seeing Her I did not chew it; I placed the gum on a tooth. She must have noticed for She said, 'Conchita why don't you get rid of the chewing gum and offer it up as a sacrifice for the glory of my Son?' I, a bit ashamed of myself, took it out and threw it on the ground. She said afterwards, 'Do you remember what I told you on your saint's day - that you would suffer much on earth?... Now I repeat it to you. Have confidence in Us. Then I added, 'How unworthy I am, O Mother of us, of so many graces received through you, and now you have come to me to help me carry the little cross I have." She said, 'Conchita, I am not coming only for you but I am coming for all my children, with a desire to get them closer to Our Hearts.' She asked for the things I was carrying. 'Give them to me so that I can kiss all you are carrying with you.' And I gave her everything. I was bringing with me also a small crucifix which I gave her to kiss. She kissed it and said , 'Put it in the hands of the Child Jesus.' And I did that and He said nothing. I said 'This cross I intend to take with me when I go to the convent.' But he did not reply. After kissing everything She commented, 'My son, through this kiss, will work wonders. Distribute them to the others..." Of course I will do it.

After all this she requested that I tell her all the petitions for others which I had received. She said, 'Conchita, tell me, tell me things about my children. I have all of them under my cloak.' And I commented, 'It is too small and there is no room for all of us.' She smiled at this.

'Do You know, Conchita, why I did not come personally on June 18 to give you the message for the world? Because it pained me to say it myself, but I have to say it to you for your own good and, if you fulfill it, for God's glory. I love you very much and I desire your salvation; to gather you all around God the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. Conchita, won't you respond to this?' I said, 'If I could be always seeing you, yes; but otherwise I can't because I am very bad...' 'You do all you can,' Our Lady added, 'and We will help you, as well as my daughters Loli, Jacinta and Maricruz...'

She did not stay long with me. She also said, 'This will be the last time you see me here, but I will always be with all my children.' Afterwards she added, 'Conchita, why don't you go often to visit my Son in the Most Blessed Sacrament? Why do you let yourself be carried away by laziness and not go to visit Him Who is waiting for you day an night?'

As I have written above, it was raining hard. Our Lady and the Child did not get wet. I was not aware it was raining while seeing them, but when I stopped seeing them I was soaked. I also told her, 'O how happy I am when I see you. Why don't you take me with you right now?' She answered, 'Remember what I told you on your saint's day. When you go before God you must show Him your hands filled with good works done by you for your brothers and for the glory of God; now your hands are empty.'

That's all, I spent a happy moment with my mother from heaven, my best friend, and with the Child Jesus. I have stopped seeing them but not feeling them close. Again they have sown in my soul great peace, joy and a desire to conquer my defects so that I will be able to love, with all my strength, the hearts of Jesus and Mary who love us so much..."

Conchita ends with this: "The Blessed Virgin Mary told me before that Jesus does not want to send the punishment in order to distress us but in order to help us and reproach us because we pay no attention to Him. And the warning will be sent in order to purify us for the miracle in which he will show us His great love, and in order that we may fulfill the message."

With this apparition of Our Lady, the cycle of apparitions in Garabandal closed. It will be definitely confirmed on a Thursday at 8:30 p.m. when The miracle takes place. This will mark the beginning of a new era in the history of the salvation of mankind.

The Garabandal Story: Father Luis Marie Andreu

The only other person to see Our Blessed Mother at Garabandal was a 38-year old Spanish Jesuit Priest, Father Luis Marie Andreu. On August 8, 1961, Father Luis was Among the spectators at The Pines when suddenly he became an integral part of the Garabandal drama. He was heard to say, Miracle! Miracle!" Not only did he see The Virgin Mary, but he was shown the forthcoming Great Miracle. The children in ecstasy understood Our Lady to say to him: "You will soon be with me." Although, he had never had any history of serious illness, he died that same night of complete joy. His final words were:

"Oh! What a sweet and lovely mother we have in happy I am... what a favor The Blessed Virgin has bestowed on me. How fortunate we are to have a mother like her in heaven!. There is no reason to fear the supernatural life. The girls have given us an example of how we must act with the Blessed Virgin. There is no doubt, in my mind that the things involving the girls are true. Why should the Blessed Virgin have chosen us? This is the happiest day of my life."
With those words, Father bowed his head and died. Our Lady has said, "that on the day AFTER the Miracle his body will be found to be incorrupt."
Our Blessed Mother showed special attention and concern for all priests, repeatedly asking that they come to Garabandal. She gave the girls the ability to recognize them even when they came dressed as laymen, revealing the state of their souls. She taught the children that priests were more important even than angels because by means of their ordination they have the power to change bread and wine into the Body and Blood of Christ during the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass.
